Mondragone, thermal and sea site, is a renowned touristic location. The origin of this city date back to the Quaternaria era. Built up in the vicinity of the ancient Roman city of Sinuessa in 217 B.C., today it is renowned for its production of Falerno wine. Due to bradyseismic phenomena, the city slowly began to sink during the years 850 and 915.The current Mondragone, for its part, was built up during the Middle Ages, and is today an attractive seaside and spa tourism destination, with a sulphurous water spring situated nearby, appreciated for curing skin diseases and arthritic disorders.
In addition to the historic center, do not miss to visit:- the Duke Palace (recently renovated)- the stronghold of the Petrino Mount that overlooks the city, with a beautiful view- the Paladino tower, built on an ancient Roman mausoleum- the Sanctuary of St. Maria Incaldana, started in the XIV century and preserves many works of art of local artists.
